Joining us as a writer lets you earn royalties whenever your music is publicly played, streamed online and broadcast.
Criteria

Writer Membership Criteria
A citizen of Malaysia with an Identity Card (MyKad), that satisfies the following conditions:
- An original composer and/or lyricist.
- Possesses one (1) song, with a minimum length of two (2) minutes per song and fulfil any of the following:-
- Commercially performed for at least three (3) times in the last twelve (12) months in any premise, venue or event;
- Recorded as part of a commercially-released movie or film;
- Broadcasted on any TV, cable or radio station for at least three (3) times in the last twelve (12) months; or
- Commercially released or published on one (1) digital streaming/video platform and has a minimum of thousand (1,000) streams/views.
- For Jingle Writer, possesses one (1) or more jingles, with a minimum of sixty (60) seconds used in advertising or for other commercial uses.
- Posses a bank account in a local physical bank.
- Provide a copy of your signed publishing agreement, if you’re assigned with a publisher (You may omit any confidential information).
A Non-Malaysian citizen with a valid passport, that satisfies the following conditions:
- An original composer and/or lyricist.
- Possesses one (1) song, with a minimum length of two (2) minutes per song and fulfil any of the following:-
- Commercially performed for at least three (3) times in the last twelve (12) months in any premise, venue or event;
- Recorded as part of a commercially-released movie or film;
- Broadcasted on any TV, cable or radio station for at least three (3) times in the last twelve (12) months; or
- Commercially released or published on one (1) digital streaming/video platform and has a minimum of thousand (1,000) streams/views.
- For Jingle Writer, possesses one (1) or more jingles, with a minimum of sixty (60) seconds used in advertising or for other commercial uses.
- Legally resides in Malaysia continuously for more than five (5) years immediately prior to application, either:-
- Married to a Malaysian with a valid marriage certificate;
- Working in Malaysia with proof of employment; or
- Studying in Malaysia with a confirmation letter issued by the government recognised institution.
- Possesses a local address with a valid proof of a stamped and up to date tenancy/ property agreement and utility/ telecommunication bill registered under the Applicant’s name as proof of residence.
- Possesses a bank account in a local physical bank with a bank confirmation letter.
- Provide a copy of your signed publishing agreement, if you’re assigned with a publisher (You may omit any confidential information).
- The Applicant shall be present in person at MACP office to submit all original documents stated above for verification purposes.
Join as a Publisher
If you own more than 10 songs, you can start earning royalties by signing up as our publishers.

Publisher Membership Criteria
A locally registered music publishing company incorporated as Sendirian Berhad with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), with music publishing as its main objective that satisfies the following conditions:
- Possesses ten (10) songs written or composed by at least three (3) lyricists or composers who are MACP members, with a minimum length of two (2) minutes per song and fulfil any of the following:-
- Commercially performed for at least three (3) times in the last twelve (12) months in any premise, venue or event;
- Recorded as part of a commercially-released movie or film;
- Broadcasted on any TV, cable or radio station for at least three (3) times in the last twelve (12) months; or
- Commercially released or published on one (1) digital streaming/video platform and has a minimum of thousand (1,000) streams/views.
- For Jingle Publisher, possesses fifty (50) or more jingles equivalent to ten (10) songs, written or composed by at least three (3) lyricists or composers who are MACP members, used in advertising or for other commercial uses.
- Submits company documents as proof of ownership in Company.
- Possesses a locally registered office address.
- Possesses a company bank account in a local physical bank.
- Any registration of work of a writer assigned with a publisher shall be supported by extracts of the publishing agreement between the Writer and the Publisher to ensure proper documentation.
- Applicants are required to pay a one-time admission fee of RM300.

When one of our members dies, the copyright in their music continues for 50 years. For the continuity of the deceased’s royalty payment, it is sufficient for the immediate family member to select only ONE representative among them as a Successor Member.

How Music Royalties Work
If you create music, write lyrics or compose melody, the Malaysia Copyright Act 1987 gives you exclusive right to control, amongst others, the following rights:
- The performance, showing or playing to the public; and
- The communication to the public.
What Do These Rights Mean to You
This gives you the right to control how and when your music can be used.
When your music plays on TV, radio, streaming services, in live performances or as background music, you are entitled for royalties.
Once you become our member, we manage these rights for you, collect your royalties and pay you whenever your music is used so you can spend all your time writing music and grow your music career.

UPDATE YOUR WORKS

If you’re a member and do not update your work, we might not be able to track your music and you might not get paid your royalties.
