LAUNCH OF 10 POPULAR CHOICE SONGS (60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, & Current Hits) FOR SMS COMPETITION held in conjunction with MACP AWARDS 2007
The MACP Awards 2007 is an annual event where Music Authors’ Copyright Protection (MACP) Bhd gives out awards in various categories as our appreciation and recognition to members for their achievement in songs composition.
This year, the MACP Awards is organized with the cooperation of Radio Television Malaysia. For the first time since 1996, the event will be telecast live by RTM giving the awards more prestige whilst bringing the event closer to the general public.
In conjunction with this year’s telecast, besides the traditional awards based on MACP’s royalty distribution results; 5 new awards are introduced (see Table below) where ten (10) songs from each category from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and Current Popular Choice have been short listed by a panel jury comprising experienced radio disc jockeys from RTM. Members of the public are encouraged to participate via SMS to vote for their Most Popular Choice Song in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and Current Hits. The song with the highest SMS votes will be announced at the event. This SMS competition will run from 5 March 2007 till 14 April 2007.

In addition, the recipients of 2 other awards namely Most Promising Young Composer (aged below 25 years old) and the Nadi Cipta Award will be announced where the recipients are selected by MACP’s Music Development Fund (MDF).
The MACP Awards 2007 will be held on 14th April 2007 (Saturday), 8.45 p.m at the Dewan Merdeka, PWTC Kuala Lumpur. Entry is by invitation only.
